Background

Support Rural Children Organisation (SRCO) is a local non-governmental organisation that was formed on 9th July 2000. It registered officially with the Ministry of Interior (MoI) on 15th June 2001 and works on a non-political and non-for-profit basis, supported by local authority levels, children’s groups, local non-governmental organizations, international non-governmental organizations, governmental officers, local teachers, local professors, and other generous individuals. It focuses on basic needs, providing education and relevant training to meet the knowledge requirements of all children, including children in orphanages, children with disabilities, and children from the poorest families living in remote and poor rural areas which face high rates of school dropout , repeating and child labour. Mission

SRCO is committed to provide quality education standards and training courses to children and female-headed households living in rural and remote areas of Kompong Chhnang Province, in order to achieve improvement of living standards and life skills amongst the poorest households. It aims to provide deprived households with the dignity, self-esteem and capacity needed to participate in a decentralised, grassroots, culturally-rooted development process. In aiming to help people to improve their living standards, it seeks to: · Enable the poorest children, children in orphanages, disabled children, female-headed households and their families to participate in their communities and national society with dignity and equality of opportunity; · Support and improve relationships and dissemination of information between institutions working in SRCOs operational area, especially building relationship with donors both in and beyond Cambodia to support the development of information, communication and education materials and other means of support for children and female-headed households. · Support and encourage children and female-headed households to benefit from knowledge, technical assistance and respect for human rights.knowledge, technical assistance and respect for human rights.

Vision

SRCO’s VISION is that all Cambodian children, including the poorest, and female-headed households live full and rewarding lives and are able to eexperience well-being, peace and justice in their own society; and that through acquiring life skills and self-sufficiency they are able to enjoy dignity and sustained improvement in living standards.
