Overview

Islamic Local Development Organization (ILDO) vision is to be the best provincial NGO, which is able to support the poorest Cambodians on agricultural production by providing the sustainable resource development and increasing the suitable project development activities. The mission is to assist the national reconstruction and rehabilitation by the poverty alleviation at the rural communities. The focuses aimed to ameliorate the poorest families where the ILDO could improve them on the agricultural means, capacity building and the highest agricultural production.Goal and Objectives: ILDO aims to reduce the poverty of the poor families and then to improve their living conditions so could later. behave a better livelihood for their families in the districts of Battambang, Sangker, Thmar Kol. ILDO’s development objectives are: ¨ To assist the rural poor people/families to have more educational opportunities, more capacities and skills to work for improving their living condition. ¨ To provide the agricultural tools and other means that the poor families could access to the better agricultural production with the quantity and quality. ¨ To build up the cooperation, communication between communities and organization and local authority to create the solidarity, strengths and friendly relationships. ¨ To create more possibilities and opportunities through the vocational skills to the poor families and especially the vulnerable group, such as the returnees, widows, orphans cripple that ILDO could assist them to help themselves and to solve out the problems with the self-confidence.

Background

Islamic Local Development Organization (ILDO) is a non-profit and a non-governmental organization, and was founded by Mr. Haji Sop Osman (or called Sem Sokha) with the other 2 Islamic Cambodian founders in the local provincial community of Battambang Province, on March 08th 1993. The purpose of this organization is to support the poorest and vulnerable families of all ethnic groups and especially the poorest farmers who are living at the rural areas. The organization was registered with the provincial authority in March 31st 1995 and recognized by the Ministry of Interior in October 1996 as a humanitarian local non-governmental organization. ILDO was funded by Interchurch Organization for Development Cooperation (ICCO) Netherlands in 1995.
