Overview

Khmer Youth Camp for Culture is a local Non-Governmental Organization, it is non-profitable, non-partisan and is not involved in any politics, and it was established by a core group of Cambodian Members that set up KYCC on January 01, 2001. The duration of activities is limited according on the statutes and standing rule of KYCC. KYCC was registered with Ministry of Interior (MoI) in 2003. We encourage young people to get involved in their communities through volunteerism. We provide opportunities for United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child while they volunteer to participate in social activities that KYCC implements such as the communities education.

Background

On 2005 Grant from The World Bank, Cambodia country office, the purpose of the grant is to support “Gender Awareness for Children and Young People”. The World Bank grant supports the specific activities of this project, that are i) Gender Workshop, ii) Training of Trainers, iii) Peer Education in Community grant is made as part of the Bank's FY2005 Small Grants Program. KYCC is an organization in Cambodia working on the filed child’s rights such as education, equality, protection and network. Workshop about gender to young people organization and university students in Phnom Penh city was supported from Forum Syd on 2003 and 2004 was supported from Oxfam Novib for gender workshop training to children network at Kandal province and Kampong Cham province and MobiTel Foundation is private company to supported for child’s rights awareness is project to created children network in the communities as peer education. For training capacity building at Thailand is support from UNICEF for APEC Forum, and violence conflict prevention is supported by the SASAKAWA Peace Foundation from Japan on 2004. In the past 2001 to 2002 KYCC conducted camp for young people, membership of KYCC and CamboKids Association and study tour at Chiso Mountain, Kampong Thom and Siem Reap provinces is trips on cultural and ancient temple. KYCC’s staffs also collaborate to prepare camping of The Youth Camping for Peace at Siem Reap about HIV/AIDS supported by UNICEF and GAD/C camping at Kirirom under topic against rape supported by Forum Syd and NOVIB.

Mission

1.To advocacy and promote to knowledge and practice on United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child practices through by encourage to participants and speak out of children. 2.Receive volunteer members to motivation personal responsibility and overall responsibilities are on rights of the children practices. 3.Support gender and violence awareness for children and young people.
