Overview

MSF is a private, international, humanitarian non-profit, organization, providing humanitarian assistance to people in need, irrespective of race, religion, ideology, or politics. MSF adheres to the principles of independence, impartiality, and neutrality and strictly follows the tenants of medical ethics and International Humanitarian Law. MSF respects the principle of medical confidentiality.

Background

MSF-F started working in Kampong Cham province of Cambodia in 1993 for tuberculosis program until 1998. Then in 1997 started a program of care and treatment of opportunistic infection for HIV/AIDS patients in Khmer-Soviet Friendship Hospital which later on started providing anti-retroviral drugs in 2001. In 2003 we supported the decentralization of HIV/AIDS treatment by opening another program to treat HIV/AIDS patients in Kampong Cham provincial referral hospital. In 2007 MSF-F started to work in prisons of Phnom Penh targeting HIV/AIDS and TB prisoners. Currently, MSF-F is providing “Comprehensive TB Care” which was started in 2008 inside Kampong Cham Provincial Hospital, since then we have scaled up our project by developing a comprehensive TB department including a building of TB laboratory in the Provincial Hospital and by extending our support at district hospital and health centers level. On the other hand, MSF-F has finished our 1st phase activity working on Active Case Finding [ACF] in Tbong Khmum province. Based on the positive result, we have put our effort for 2nd phase in which Memorandum of Understanding [MoU] has been recent signed on 15 August 2014 between MSF-F, Operational Health District [HoD] and Provincial Referral Hospital [PRH] of Tbong Khmum province.

Mission

Médecins Sans Frontières provides assistance to populations in distress, to victims of natural or man-made disasters and to victims of armed conflict. MSF do so irrespective of race, religion, creed or political convictions. MSF observes neutrality and impartiality in the name of universal medical ethics and the right to humanitarian assistance and claims full and unhindered freedom in the exercise of its functions.
