Overview

CelAgrid team belief that development can happen in the community when changes in traditional agricultural practices, human capacity, degree of resources mobilization and the routine and systematic commitment of development workers, community members and policy makers. CelAgrid works agriculture, environment and renewable energy sectors. To get them implemented CelAgrid involves in research, capacity building and community development.

Background

The Centre for Livestock and Agriculture Development (CelAgrid) was established in 2003 after ending the contract with the Royal University of Agriculture in 2002. Although institutional name was changed from UTA-Cambodia to CelAgrid, the organization continue to use UTA-Cambodia as it was registered on 5th December 2002 at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs for the period from 2002-2005. As it was difficult to deal with donors when questions were asked about the core funding from the Head Office and expatriates then the Management Team of decided to have a local name and on January 24th, 2006 the organization was registered as CelAgrid at the Ministry of Interior.

The CelAgrid team collaborates with academic and development institutions to build and strengthen the capacity of farmer community to fight poverty and hunger. CelAgrid team develops and applies innovative agricultural research and extension messages taking into account social, cultural, environmental and economic dimension of the communities

To contribute to the education of people to manage natural resources in a way that will sustain the food and energy needs of present and future generations.
