Background

Over 35 years of existence: Agronomes et Vétérinaires sans frontières was created in 2004 through the merger of the Centre International de Coopération pour le Développement Agricole (CICDA) and Vétérinaires Sans Frontières (VSF), two professional associations working for international solidarity that were founded in 1977 and 1983 respectively.

Value

Agronomes et Vétérinaires sans frontières is not a substitute for either farmers’ households, or local bodies. Mission

Agronomes et Vétérinaires sans frontières works alongside rural households the most threatened by destitution and exclusion. To assist them, the association has made available qualified staff in the fields of agriculture, livestock and animal health. It mobilizes people in the North and in the South to the protection of peasant agriculture.

Vision

Peasant agriculture contributes to food sovereignty of people and plays a key role in the balanced management of their territory, in the preservation of the environment and employment. Agronomes et Vétérinaires sans frontières is convinced that participation in socio-economic activities of agricultural population in the South is the best way of continuously working against poverty.

Goal

1. To ensure food security of vulnerable people in its three dimensions: availability, access and utilization. 2. To build the capacity of stakeholders to be able to support the development of family farming. 3. To contribute to sustainable natural res
