Overview

Organization’s description The Jesuit Service Cambodia (JSC) is a Catholic NGO working in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Affairs of Cambodia and is duly registered and recognized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It has been serving in Cambodia since 1990 for the development and accompaniment of the poor, persons with disabilities in the villages, and the marginalized people in the society. JSC works in 5 provinces, namely Kandal, Battambang , Banteay Meanchey, Siem Reap and Kompong Thom.

Background

Background/History: * Jesuit Service, a Catholic NGO which aims to serve the poor and the vulnerable, has been working in Cambodia since 1990. It first came to Cambodia as Jesuit Refugee Service which accompanied the returnees from the refugee camps in Thailand to resettle in Cambodia land. The earliest work of Jesuit Service was the vocational school for the handicapped. As the years passed, Jesuit Service extended its services in rural development, peace and reconciliation activities, health, education and outreach to the people with disabilities.

Mission

To accompany and work with disadvantaged communities in upholding the rights, the welfare and the dignity of the poor by implementing programs that alleviate poverty, improve education, and establish just relations in Cambodia society.

Vision

A society in which the highest four-fold Cambodian ideals of Metta ( loving kindness), Karuna ( compassion), Upikka (universality) and Mudita ( delight in the happiness of others) bring forth peace, justice, equality and the fullness of life for all Cambodians.

Goal

1-To accompany the vulnerable in the society. 2- To uphold the rights and the dignity of the marginalized. 3-To improve the welfare and quality of life of the poor and person with disabilities.
