Background

Established in 2010, Environmental Sanitation Cambodia (ESC) is an independent Cambodian non-profit, non-partisan, non-governmental organisation (NGO). Since it’s inception, ESC has partnered closely with the Bremen Overseas Research and Development Association (BORDA) to promote decentralized sanitation options through the dissemination of BORDA’s Decentralized Wastewater Treatment System (DEWATS) for Small and Medium Enterprises (SME), public institutions and communities.

Mission

To work with all relevant water and sanitation stakeholders, in line with Cambodian government policies and international standards, to promote and protect public health, through the support of sustainable development in Cambodia, based on the principles of economic and social justice, gender equity, culturally appropriate technology and respect for the environment.

Goal

To protect and promote public health in Cambodia, through the provision of demand oriented technical and social services, related to health and hygiene behavior change and appropriate, efficient, safe and sustainable management of animal, human, and industrial waste. ESC provides comprehensive DEWATS services in Cambodia: -DEWATS Promotion -DEWATS Planning -DEWATS Design -DEWATS Construction -DEWATS Training & Monitoring -ESC works on-demand and in close cooperation with clients to help ensure the sustainability of projects.
