PyD is a secular, non political organization committed to promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment throughout its scope of activities.

Background

Paz y Desarrollo (Peace and Development) is a non government development organization founded in Cordoba, Spain in 1991. It works to promote the development of some of the world’s most vulnerable countries by fostering economic and social changes through four main strategies: • Strengthening Civil Society • Institutional Strengthening • Development of Productive Sectors • Enhancing Gender Equity and Equality Over the last 20 years, Paz y Desarrollo has worked with governments, civil society organizations and educational institutions from various nations in carrying out programs and projects that seeks to promote equality and social justice as a means to achieve social change. Currently present in eleven countries in Asia, South and Central America, Paz y Desarrollo will continue to work, for as long as humanly possible, to achieve greater social justice and equal rights and opportunities for men and women.

To promote values that engender equality and non-discrimination between men and women and to guarantee that economic activities provide people with access to sufficient resources to develop themselves by supporting transformative social economic processes. 3. To promote a general status of wellbeing in which people have the freedom and space to develop their skills, especially in relation to democracy and citizen participation in the framework of Human Rights in order to promote gender equity and social justice. 4. To promote human rights for women and girls as an inalienable part, integral and indivisible facet of human rights and fundamental liberties.

Mission

Promote gender equality, social justice, the equitable redistribution of resources, freedom to exercise basic human rights and the improvement of life quality among men and women living in poverty and disadvantageous situations.

Vision

Paz y Desarrollo wishes to be valued and well-known for promoting gender-fair and sustainable communities where women and girls can fully exercise their rights to the full and participate in processes that concern their development.
