Background

After a 10 year history in local and international organizations, including five years as Director of an English Language School (English as a Special Language), Mr Hengchhea Chheav (the Founder & President of ACODO) started working to improve the lives of the most victimized and vulnerable children in Siem Reap Province. His love and devotion to underprivileged children is boundless. ACODO (Assisting Cambodian Orphans and the Disabled Organization) was established and initially funded by a Cambodian well-intended selfless volunteer team on the 1st January 2008. It was officially registered with The Royal Cambodian Government, Ministry of Interior as a charity in Phnom Penh on the 14th July 2008 (charity number 893). ACODO orphanage has MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation - MOU number 2663, dated on the 12th of October 2012. During 2008 and 2009 ACODO taught essential life and vocational skills to 1,450 very poor people living in local slums near Siem Reap city centre. Since 2008 ACODO has been operating an orphanage, which provides shelter, nourishment and a life changing education for some of Cambodia’s most destitute children. ACODO has successfully completed a number of projects such as re-locating to a new site and constructing purpose built kitchen, classrooms, separate accommodations for boys and girls, music class, library, computer room and charity show stage.
