Overview

CGA has 3 programmes to implement activities in Cambodia: 1. Community Health Education Programme CGA is using the community Health Education (CHE) Programme as a tool for holistic development in the target communities-based, long-term and sustainable development strategy that deals with the whole man- physically, morally, emotionally and socially. The CHE Programme was started in Cambodia in 1999 by AOG Cambodia; CGA has taken over this programme since July 2004 with the Ministry of Rural Development as its line Ministry. 2. We facilitate target communities (dozens of villages in several provinces, including thousands of villagers) to organize themselves with Village Development Committees (VDC) and a network of volunteers acting as community Health Educators (CHEs). 3.We provide hundreds of VDC’s and CHE’s with training on holistic development. Then CHE’s train their neighbors to improve their knowledge and practice in the area of health, hygiene, nutrition, agriculture, livestock farming, moral/ social life and community development. 4.Dozens of demand-driven Community Projects (such as wells, water filters, toilets, rice banks, animal banks, micro-enterprises, etc...) are carried out every year by the VDC’s and the CHE’s. 2- Salamom Programme With this programme, CGA wants orphans and children from vulnerable families of Phnom Penh and other provinces, to be educated in a way that is both Cambodia and holistic, with a standard of excellence, and with the participation of the parents or the tutors. Our vision is that our students will be agents of transformation in their communities. 1.We educate children from kindergarten to Grade 12, in the safe environment of Salamom School in Phnom Penh, using a holistic curriculum that combines the general official curriculum of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports with international curriculum. Children are thus well-educated and equipped physically, intellectually, socially, emotionally and morally. 1. We train and build the capacity of teachers from Salamom and from other schools in the provinces for holistic education. 2.We empower the parents or the tutors of the students of Salamom for their role in the holistic development of the children. 3- Care for orphans 1.CGA is developing a ´Care for Orphans¨ programme in response to the increasing number of orphans in Phnom Penh and other provinces due to the HIV/AIDS pandemic and to different and Hepatitis. We develop a network of foster families, providing dozens of orphans with an holistic support including shelter, food, clothing, medical care, school fees and counselling.
