Overview

Youth With A Mission (YWAM) is an International Christian Organization that began in 1960 and presently facilitates emergency relief and development projects in 47 countries. Through YWAM projects, an essential component of each project is to meet the human needs while affirming the dignity, value, and self-worth of those being served. Each project aims to partner and assist towards self-sufficiency.

Background

YWAM first began working with Cambodian refugees in 1979 along the Thai-Cambodian border in health-care, education, and aquaculture projects. In 1990, YWAM signed an agreement with the Cambodian government to work in the province of Stung Treng in primary health care and rehabilitation of the town water system. The Stung Treng project now encompasses primary health-care, AIDS education, prison health care, rural development, malaria control, and teaching English.
