Background

Kaleb e.V., Cambodia was created in December 2004, after a vision in prayer was received, to respond to the immense needs of the children living on the streets of Phnom Penh. Many of these children have fled from rural provincial areas, forced to leave their homes due to a number of desperate family situations. Upon discovering their needs for education, vocational training, and reconciliation with their families, we developed different programs - the Bethlehem night shelter, the reintegration program, and the family unit - which serve only as a framework for bringing healing and restoration to the lives of homeless children and even whole families in Phnom Penh. We also added the programs for abandonment prevention, child sponsorship, and character building to meet some more of the social needs in Cambodia. Kaleb e.V., Cambodia is a faith-based non-profit NGO with its fundraising department in Germany, committed to holistically bettering the lives of Cambodian young people and families living in distress, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic origin. Our long-term goal is to prepare them for an independent and self-determined life and to empower them to serve their community and nation. Cambodia is one of the poorest countries in the world. It is located in Southeast Asia and is bordered by Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and the Gulf of Thailand. Primarily an agricultural country, it is emerging from years of civil war, genocide and isolation. The political situation has stabilized in recent years and the economy is growing, but the country faces massive human and social issues.

Mission

Our mission is a humanitarian one. We desire to: Give protection and support to homeless street children and families. Assist those children who want to be reconciled with their families and reintegrated into the school system, culture, and society. Reduce abandonment of children by financially strengthening families in crisis. Sponsor poor and handicapped children, both in Phnom Penh and the provinces, so that they can receive a formal education. Teach core values and biblical principles to a generation who suffers so much from the aftermath of the Pol Pot regime, which destroyed many of society's norms.

Vision

Our vision is to restore trust, love and hope to the lives of Cambodian children, young people, and families who are living in difficult circumstances, so that they can overcome past traumas and reach their God-given potential.
