Background

Buddhism for Development Kampong Thom (BDKT) was established 5th of Jan . 1997 in the meeting for monks and people from 3 villages around Vor Yeav pagoda , Mission of the BFDK is to facilitate activity that lead to poverty alleviation in the target area. The health monk of Voy Yeav pagoda , who is also director of BFDK , Venerable Ly Khom when to learn in the BFD ( Buddhism for Development ) in Battambong Province , Then called "Saving Association" After this Venerable Ly Khom started the activities in Voy Yeav 1997 with the establishment of the saving group in 3 village , 2 rice banks and pagoda based tree nursery . CWS ( Church World Service ) selected BFDK as one of its CNGO partner in 1999. CWS is giving (Holistic World Service ) By Providing capacity building and funding for Organization until today . The Ministry of Interior registered BFDK as non-governmental organization in 2000.
