Background

The meeting forum between Cambodian Red Cross (CRC), Mine Advisory Group (MAG), Trauma Care Foundation (TCF), Cambodian Mine Action Center (CMAC), in December 2001. People lost lives from the mine accident, traffic accident, HIV/AIDs, family violence, birth delivery, and other disease. The strategy, recommendation, and advices to improve, protect, and restore people livelihood and save live from the forum. NGO were invited to discuss and draft advices on a strategy for improving all the issues above- SCO Cambodia in road safely sector management. Following the consultation and a study on a strategic of road safety, National Road Safety Committee of Cambodia (NRSC), Cambodia Red Cross (CRC), and Handicap International Belgium (HIB), and other partners, the road Safety Education Sub-Sector working Group formally proposed the formation of an “SCO Cambodia” under the leadership of an Interim Board. The SCO Cambodia was formally a constituted NGO in a year with the adoption of a charter, election of five-person board, and signing up of five programs operations as a local none governmental organization. The SCO Cambodia is legal register with Ministry of Interior of Cambodia as local non-government organization on 01 June 2004. 2010-2013: climate change adaptation project established by SCO and financial supported from UNDP (Small Grant Program), provided fund to rural people in three communes of Kampong Speu, Phreah Sihanouk and Siem Reap Provinces. 2014-2015: Extension as SCO, First strategic decision to create a sustainable institution beyond the closure of SCO project and combined to one project, one credit component base in all segments of the communities.
