Background

NGO Coalition on the Rights of the Child (NGOCRC) is a local coalition of national and international child rights organizations in Cambodia whose major commonality is their commitment toward the Rights of the Child. Established in September 1994 by nine (9) elected NGO Members, NGOCRC endeavors to raise awareness of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) among children, their parents, and all relevant institutions. It dedicates its efforts and resources to the efficient and effective implementation of the UNCRC by advocating for child rights. Specifically, it concentrates on the formulation and amendment of laws pertaining to children. It also monitors the implementation of the UNCRC in Cambodia and submits alternative reports on the implementation of the UNCRC and its Optional Protocols in Cambodia to the UN Committee on Children’s Rights. The NGOCRC also aims at strengthening the capability of its Secretariat’s staff and NGO members. NGO Coalition on the Rights of the Child was incorporated to fill the need to: Advocate for child rights; Organize a functional Children’s Committee; Monitor the implementation of UNCRC in Cambodia; Submit supplementary report on the implementation of UNCRC in Cambodia to the United Nations CRC Committee; Strengthen its capability (Executive Committee, Secretariat and NGO members).

Mission

NGOCRC, an alliance of national and international NGOs, advocates for child rights in Cambodia and ensures support for UNCRC through monitoring its implementation, cooperating with member organizations, and networking with relevant agencies.

Children in Cambodia enjoy their full rights as enshrined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).
