Overview

Japan Team of Young Human Power (JHP) is a Japan-based organization that aims to provide educational support and humanitarian aid in Japan, Cambodia and many other countries that suffer from disasters and conflicts. Most of our activities take place in Cambodia, including construction of school facilities and provision of music/art education. JHP also makes effort to raise awareness about developing countries by sending university students to Cambodia, Africa and disastrous areas in Japan to perform various duties from the construction of play ground to humanitarian aid activities. JHP has been working to improve the world since 1993 and continues to do so till the time comes.

Background

JHP was established through the activities of Japan International Rescue Action committee (JIRAC), when Cambodian Refugees came back into Cambodia in 1991. The education in Cambodia was forbidden and severely destroyed during the Pol-Pot regime, and the country is still struggling due to the shortage of schools and teachers. We believe that one of the most important things for Cambodia is to establish a solid educational system. JHP was formed in 1993, separating itself from JIRAC, focusing its activities on the construction of school facilities. To date, JHP has constructed more than 220 school buildings in various parts of Cambodia and we will continue our effort to build more schools until we satisfy the need for school facilities. JHP also has educational support project since 1995, which provides music/art training for teachers, TTC students, and hosts music/art contests in provinces. Center for Children’s Happiness (CCH) was established in 2002 to help orphans receive minimum education and living skills.

Vision

We believe that “the development of the nation and the democratization shall be started with enrichment of fundamental education.” JHP has been in Cambodia since 1993 to improve the educational infrastructure of the country. Moreover, our goal is help Cambodians recover from the painful past and build a peaceful nation. To achieve those goals, JHP believes that education shall be our primary focus and through that, we aim to enrich the nation’s human capital and minds of Cambodian citizens.
