Background

Agriculture Technology Services Association (ATSA) was an idea originating from discussions between the National Integrated Pest Management Programme and Danida as a means of maintaining, enhancing and providing sustainability to the achievements, impacts, networks and structures created through the Dnida-NIPM partnership supporting IPM in Cambodia. The ATSA was established and registered with the Ministry of Interior of the Royal Government of Cambodia and the local authorities on March 6 2007. The ATSA has a small team of highly trained profession staff who previously supported the National IPM Program at the central level to implement national level programs in partnership with Danida, FAO, CIDA and the World Bank. This core group is responsible for research, marketing, program development and administration of ATSA. The team provides agriculture and natural resource management expertise consistent with its vision and values based on contractual arrangements.

Mission

The ATSA will achieve its vision by forming strategic civil society organizations and private market opportunities to: utilize and strengthen local level systems and networks to provide high quality technical services which strengthen farmer's capabilities to generate, access and use information to make better decisions in their fields; develop local capacity to produce, create linkages and supply high quality and timely agriculture input to farmers; and strengthen farmer groups and their capacity to access markets, influence local level decision-making and participate more actively in civil society.

Vision

The Vision of ATSA is a productive rural Cambodia, rich in natural resources & biodiversity, in which farmers, their leaders and strong farmer groups are: -Leading efforts to secure sustainable farm livelihoods by playing important roles in leadership; -Ensuring markets are responsive to their needs; -Playing an important role in agriculture input and information supply systems; and -Participating in the decision-making in local government and civil society organizations.
