Background

Krom Akphiwat Phum (KAWP) is the Cambodian Non-Governmental Organization that localized from an Australian International organization namely OSB (Overseas Service Bureau). OSB operated the project called rebuilding local community in Battambang during 1992 to 1995. The project responded to the real community needs and building capacity of Cambodian staff in order they are able to manage the organization by themselves. The Cambodian staff capacity was growing and a Cambodian Non-Governmental Organization namely KAWP was established and registered with Cambodian Ministry of Interior in March 15, 1995.

Goal

Create a mindset where stakeholders understand that they have to collaborate and adopt a sustainable self reliant approach to social development in order to attain a more secure livelihoods.

Project Summary

1. Rebuilding Local Communities in Battambang Province (1993-1995), 2. Combating Poverty in Battambang Province (1996-1999), 3. Promoting Social Change at Village Level (1999-2001), 4. Advancing Civil Society within and Beyond Village Boundaries (2002-2004) 5. Strengthen and Extending Civil Society and Promoting Decentralization System (2005-2007). 6. CBO Sustainability and Participation in Local Governance (2008-2011).
