Background

Finn Church Aid (FCA) was founded on 25 September 1947, when the Lutheran Church of Finland officially joined the international assistance network of churches – at the time, as a recipient of assistance. After the Second World War, Finland was in ruins. There was a shortage of food and clothes as the country had been impoverished by war. Over 400,000 people migrated from the Karelian territory, which Finland was forced to surrender, to other parts of the country.

Value

We believe that local communities find the most sustainable solutions to the challenges in their own contexts. Finn Church Aid will contribute to positive change by supporting people in the most vulnerable situations within fragile and disaster-affected regions in our three thematic priority areas: right to peace, livelihood and education. We aim to become a global leader in supporting peace work in traditional communities and a strong actor within the ACT Alliance Network on issues related to livelihood and education. We enhance our programmes through global advocacy.

Mission

Action for human dignity.

Vision

Changing the world through support for people in the most vulnerable situations.
