Overview
The Learning Institute (LI) is a non-profit, non-political Cambodian organization working with a wide range of civil society, public and private sector organizations to enable more effective contributions to the sustainable management of natural resources for the benefit of rural people.
Background
Since its founding in 2005 as the Community-Based Natural Resource Management Learning Institute, LI has worked towards enhancing sustainability and equity in natural resource use, management and governance. We work with key actors not just to preserve Cambodia’s rich natural resources, but also to ensure that these contribute more effectively to the well-being of local people. We hope to see this aspiration reflected in policies, programs and strategies that support the involvement of local people in equitable governance and sustainable management of natural resources. The Learning Institute is committed to gaining wider recognition based on the quality and relevance of its work, and strengthening its identity as a dynamic Cambodian organization at the forefront of sustainability initiatives.
Value
In all of its activities and interactions, the Learning Institute is guided by six core organizational values: equity; respect for learning; collaboration; integrity/transparency; quality/impact; and accountability.
Mission
LI works to alleviate poverty and enhance the well-being of people living in rural areas. Its mission is to be a center of learning; working creatively with others to generate and share knowledge and practices that contribute to sustainable and fair use of natural resources.
