Overview

Rural Development Association - RDA is a not-for-profit, non-political and non-sectarian Development organization. RDA is registered under the Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies (Registration and Control Ordinance, 1961) as a non-governmental organization. RDA was established in 2007 with the objectives to dedicate itself for the cause of sustainable development of the downtrodden and marginalized segments of communities in Sindh and RDA believes that rural Sindh is an integral part of our society with their contribution in socio-economic development and as main contributor in GDP (Gross Domestic Product) of Pakistan as well as a major source of employment in rural economy of the country.
Rural Development Association consists of competent and committed development professionals, social activists, researchers, experienced staff and well trained volunteers. RDA is only the organization which devoted itself for the development of the people of rural areas of Sindh Province. The rural areas of Sindh are rich with abundant natural and human resources but always have been neglected by elites of feudal cum politicians through their worst and suppressive governance style as well as rapid urbanization and its key policy focus.
Rural Development Association is enthusiastic and dedicated to use the plentiful potential of rural areas to foster self-reliance and preserve human dignity for positive change for downtrodden and marginalized communities in their rural life. For fulfillment of these objectives the founders of RDA have designed very fundamental program and activities to address the existent issues and challenges to be addressed in an efficient and effective manner for peaceful and prosper rural life to discourage the migration towards urban areas and develop the rural areas for their maximum output of the rural economic sectors. The Programs and activities of RDA are as Agriculture, environment and climate change, Disaster Risk Reduction, food security and sustainable livelihoods, women empowerment, youth and Gender development, safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene promotion, emergency relief services and Research and Advocacy.
In this regard RDA has took numerous initiative to implement various projects and programs in different districts of southern Sindh Umerkot, Tharparkar such as Career counseling workshops, seminars, walks, Youth & Sustainable Development (Training) for positive Change, Training for sanitation and hygiene promotion and currently implementing program/projects on Gender empowerment, WASH, DRR, Livelihood, Education, Health and food security.
