Overview

SHARE is a non-governmental organization working in community health in Asian and African regions. Since its foundation in 1983, SHARE has been supporting people and communities to overcome their health problems by their own. Based on the principles of Primary Health Care, SHARE promotes access for everyone to essential health care services with full community involvement, and believes in an equal partnership between those who support and those in need. Four main components of our activities include: 1) Health Staff and Community Health Worker Capacity Building SHARE provides various trainings and on-the-job support to health staff and CHW in order to maximize their capacity. As a result of SHARE’s support, health staff acquire knowledge and skills to provide quality health services, create effective work plans, facilitate meetings efficiently, and write substantive reports. 2) Public Health System Strengthening In order to improve public health services, SHARE works to increase the management capacity of the Operational District and Health Centers and to strengthen cooperation among health staff and Community Health Workers. 3) Health Education Promotion To promote health education in communities, SHARE develops various materials and methods for health education, conducts trainings and provides support for health center staff and CHW. 4) Health Facilities Support Health facilities are essential to the provision of public health services. However, few villages in Cambodia have proper health center buildings and necessary utilities like water and electricity. We provide health facilities so that health staff can utilize their knowledge and skills to provide high quality health services to the community.

Mission

SHARE’s mission is to support those in difficulty by assisting them in their own personal efforts to improve their health. SHARE is also turning to Japanese citizens to ask them what they can do to alleviate injustice and eliminate the gap between the wealthy and those less fortunate.
