Overview

Support Association for Rural Farmers” SORF” is a neutral non-government organization, non-profit and non-political party that was official recognized by the Interior Ministry based on the registration letter No 669 S.J.N which was issued on November 19th, 1998. SORF started working in Pursat Province since 1998 until 2014(for 16 years), which locates in Phealnheak2 Village, Sangkat Pteas Prey, Pursat Town, Pursat Province, Cambodia and recently, SORF has re-registered with MoI on February 2011. SORF is the two tomes certified NGO of NGO GPP on October23, 2009-October 23,2012 and September 27,2013 -September27, 2015. SORF has 5 board members, 1 woman (1 BoD, 1 Deputy of Board, 3 board members) and a management Team with 5 members( 2 women) . Currently, it has 16 staffs,6 women ( 1 ED, 1 PM, 2 PCs, 1 team leader, 1 Admin/accountant, 1 Office Assistant ,6 POs ,and 2 guards). SORF has 3 main projects( Livelihood integrated DRR, Community Livestock Market Development( CLIMAD), Recovering Living Conditions and Building Resilience of Communities affected by the 2013 Floods) which has been covering in 68 village , 4 sangkat and 16 communes 4 dist,1 town with totaling of 3,861 Households direct beneficiaries and 7722 household indirect Beneficiaries. Those projects have been supported by OXFAM NOVIB, People in Needs(PIN) and ECHO through PIN. SORF also works closely as partnership and networking with Relevant Stakeholders of Government Line agencies at sub-national levels( PED,PHD, PDRD,PDWRAM, PCDM, DCDM, PAgrD, PWAD, Social Affair Department....) and Local Authorities (CCDM,CCs, Village leaders...) and CBOs including Local NGOs at National( CCC, NGO GPP, WGPD, PIN, OXFAM) and Sub-national levels ( AK, PK, EPDO, AARR,PVT, SC...).

Background

Support Association for Rural Farmers” SARF” is a neutral non-government organization, non-profit and non-political party that was official recognized by the Interior Ministry based on the registration letter No 669 S.J.N which was issued on November 19th, 1998. SARF was become a pilot partner with Concern Worldwide from 1998-2004, since then it became full partner until the present. SARF started working in Pursat Province since 1998 until 2011 (for 15 years) and recently, SARF has changed from (Support Association for Rural Farmers “SARF”) to Support Organization for Rural Farmers “SORF”. The reason of changing is based on the needs of donors and the Draft of NGO law of Government.

Mission

• To reduce poverty in Cambodia through cooperation with government and development sectors to empower poor and vulnerable people to gain greater access to health services, to increase their awareness and access to sanitation and hygiene, to improve their ability to adapt to climatic impacts and reduce their disaster risk, and to improve their food security through sustainable income generation.

Vision

The poor and most vulnerable rural Cambodians—including women, children, youth, and the disabled—achieve good and sustainable social and economic welfare.
