Overview

The Rural Economic Development Association (REDA) is a local non-profit, non-partisan, non-government organization. REDA was established in 1993 by a core group of teachers, nurses and farmers repatriated to Svay Rieng Province. REDA was registered with the Interior Ministry on 5 August 1994.

Background

Since 1995, REDA has received funding and technical support from International NGOs- Japan Lay Missionary Movement (JLMM),Cooperative International Service (CIS),World Food Program (WFP) and Christian Reformed World Relief Committee (CRWRC) for the implementation of projects in Svay Chrom District, Svay Rieng Province. REDA received financial and technical support from Khmer HIV/AIDS NGO Alliance (KHANA) during the 1998-2006 period for the implementation of Home Care and Prevention programs for people living with HIV/AIDS in Svay Chrom district. Since 1998, REDA has also worked in cooperation with Task Force, conducting training courses on human rights and advocacy for target groups. REDA is also a member of Cambodian Human Rights and HIV/AIDS Network (CHRHAN) and NGO forum.

Mission

To strengthen by direct or indirect to the poor, women, children and PLHA in order to get fundamental rights and sustainability of living by preparing their future plan and free occupation in accordance with the law and gender. 1. To strengthen the capacity building to community so that they get ability to involve in implementing democracy, human rights, women rights, children rights and laws against epidemic of AIDS. 2.To strengthen staff capacity in professional skills, tolerance to human being and environment. 3.To support social, economic and self – reliance of children, women, men and PLHA in Cambodia where social welfare services are not fully provided. 4.To advocate equal rights of children, women, men and PLHA in cooperation with the similar organizations / agencies in the communities.

Vision

To see Cambodian people, however, minorities, women, children, PLHA have developed their living condition with morality in fulfillment democracy, transparency, non – violence, discrimination by respecting Human Rights, roles of law, peace and gender. 1.To see the movement of civil society have enough ability to implement freely in accordance with national and international law to fill the gaps of government by method of non – violence for the purpose of reducing the poverty of Cambodian. 2.To integrate equal participation and development of children, women, men and PLHA into all fields of Cambodian society.
