Mission

The mission statement of the ABI is "ABI will assist the rural poor living in Banteay Meanchey province most of whom are self-employed through an effective rural credit scheme. The poor earn their living through a variety of rice farming, vegetable growing, fisheries, animal raising, silk production and trading activities while some of the others have gone for illegal employment in Thailand. The poor currently get credit from suppliers that charge effective rate as high as 120 per cent per annum. ABI expects to see self-respect among women; new rural businesses; and vital village economic growth. While credit is our priority, group meeting will also be used to help people to address and solve common issues and problems. The goal of the ABI is "to establish income generation activities for the rural poor through the provision of financial services and business skills and improve the bond linkage between the rural producers and the markets"
