Overview

Khemara is a local NGO that works with women and children. Its strength is in implementing programs that build capacity of key stakeholders, advancing the role and rights of vulnerable women and children by directly working with local communities.

Background

Established in 1991, Khemara was the very first local Non-Government Organisation (NGO) in Cambodia to work with women and children. Since its’ inception, Khemara has played a significant role in working for the advancement of women and children in Cambodia by working directly with communities across 5 projects currently.

Mission

To promote the capacity, confidence and wellbeing of communities through the sharing of information, education and counselling, including the encouragement of women and children to recognise their potential and rights to participate in decision making.

Vision

To see a Cambodian society in which all people, especially the women and children, fully participate in social development.

Goal

Support vulnerable people, especially women, children and disadvantaged persons, by providing consultation, life skill capacity building and proper interventions to reduce poverty.
