Development and Partnership in Action (DPA) is a Cambodian non-government organisation that has been implementing development programmes on Natural Resource Management, Climate Change and Food Security and Financial Sustainability in Cambodia for over 30 years. DPA currently has two main programmes: Partnership and Advocacy Programme and Integrated Community Development Programme. The DPA is now looking for a qualified Cambodian to fill up the position of AdvocacyCoordinator for the Strengthening Accountable Business Practices through Respect and Engagement (SABRE) Project. This position is based within DPA’s Partnership and Advocacy Programme in Phnom Penh and frequently travels to the target provinces.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Working closely with the steering committee of the DPA-led Extractive Industry Social and Environmental (EISEI) network to facilitate the national-level EISEI network.
- Coordinating with the steering committee and members of the EISEI network, as well as other like-minded NGO networks, to organize indoor campaigns, multi-stakeholder dialogues, and policy dialogues regarding the social and environmental impacts of mineral exploration and mining operations, as well as natural resource management related issues.
- Providing a solid foundation for advocacy initiatives aimed at addressing the concerns of grassroots civil society and community members by collaborating with relevant ministries, private sector, as well as other NGO networks in Cambodia and other relevant stakeholders.
- Building the capacity of DPA staff members, partners, and community focal persons.
- Establishing and strengthening relationships with civil society groups, media outlets, concerned government institutions, private sectors, and communities.
Qualifications Required:
- A university degree in law, public administration and policy, environmental sciences, natural resource management or other related fields.
- At least three years experiences in advocacy and networking or working in capacity building in relation to the laws, policies and international standards on extractive industry sector.
- Knowledge of issues related to social and environmental impact of extractive industry activities, environmental impact assessment, Free Prior and Informed Consent, Corporate Social Responsible, and Business and Human Rights are the assets and preferable.
- Proven ability to network and develop positive inter-organisational relationships.
- High level inter-personal and communication skills.
- Good at report writing and proposal development.
- Sound computer skills, including knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Power Point. Experience with GIS, Database and Web site development desirable.
- Fluency in Khmer and English (Both writing and speaking)
